Music Distance Learning Resources
As Oregon schools remain closed over the next several weeks, I will be in touch with OPE students and families about some ways students can continue to sing, play, and stay connected with music during these unprecedented and challenging times. Each week, I will provide distance learning activities for each grade and for beginning band. Please watch your email for a handout, along with links to electronic resources I will post to a grade level page to support your home practice. In addition to the resources linked above, many performing arts organizations across the world are offering streaming performances that you can watch from the comfort of your couch. Below are some links to concerts of a variety of genres, from classical to country.
Free Streaming Performances
During the extent of our closure, many arts organizations are live streaming concerts and events free of charge. This is your chance to watch world class performances from the comfort of your home without the cost of tickets or travel! Links to these organizations are available below.
The Metropolitan Opera in New York is offering daily broadcasts of past performances. On their website, you will find links to the performance, historical information about the composer and the opera, and other relevant information.
Grand Ole Opry
The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN is offering a live performance on Saturday, March 21 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time featuring performances on a variety of acoustic instruments. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a performance at this icon of country music. Click the link above to see ways to watch. Future performances may be broadcast as well. Jazz at Lincoln Center
Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York is offering live streaming performances of jazz ensembles coming up in mid-April. Please see their website for scheduled performers and times, as well as how to watch the live streams.
United States Army Field Band
The US Army Field Band will be performing daily concerts via live stream that feature a variety of ensembles and musical styles throughout spring break. Please visit their website using the link above for the full schedule and other details.
