Fourth Grade General Music builds upon the work done in the lower grades, exploring elements of rhythm and melody with increasing sophistication. Instrumental study is continued through work with the soprano recorder beginning in fourth grade. Specific goals include:Consistent use of the singing voice in the head voice register
Development of part singing through rounds and canons
Review of known rhythmic elements: ta, ti ti, tibi tibi, rest, half note
Dictation and recording musical ideas in stick and standard musical notation
Composition activities in stick & standard notation
Improvisation on the soprano recorder
Listening development with art music of major composers
All classes arrive by 6:15 PM, 6:30-7:00 PM Concert
